Amakaya Backpackers Hostel & self-catering accommodation is 300 metres the shops, restaurants, pubs, of Main Street and 800m from the popular Central Beach.

Our upstairs bar and open air verandah offers magnificent views of the Tsitsikamma mountain range, the lagoon and the bay. This is a great place to relax after a busy day’s activities or for the early risers to watch the sunrise. You can also chat with other guests around our nightly bonfire or just laze in a hammock in the garden.

Our communal lounge is equipped with satellite TV, and an internet station. Wi-fi internet is available anywhere on the premises.

We offer a variety of accommodation - rooms for a bit of privacy or dorms for those who don’t mind sharing.

Our rooms and dorms are named after nearby popular mountain passes.

• Montagu twin room - 2 single beds, valuables safe, built-in cupboards. Choice of 2 shared bathrooms opposite room.
• Kaaimans twin room - 2 single beds, valuables safe, built-in cupboards. Choice of 2 shared bathrooms opposite room.
• Homtini double room – double bed, shared bathroom.
• Outeniqua en-suite room- double bed and 2 bunk beds. Full bathroom, private balcony, valuables safe, built-in cupboards, satellite TV.
• Baviaans private dorm - 2 bunk beds. Shared bathroom.
• Bloukrans dorm - 4 bunk beds, en-suite bathroom, private entrance.
• Meiringspoort dorm - 8 bunk beds, own bathroom.
• Tradouw dorm - 10 bunk beds, kitchen area, en-suite bathroom, private entrance, satellite TV.

Breakfast can be arranged on request.

Curfew:

In order to avoid fraud, only make prepayments (reservations or deposits) using a credit card (or any other card that does not require a PIN number for online purchases) or PayPal. Never make an advanced payment using cash, checks, money orders or bank transfers. Learn why.

Cancellation 0 - 14 days before date of arrival, or no-show – visitor forfeits 100% of deposit paid.

Cancellation 15 - 30 days before date of arrival – visitor forfeits 75% of deposit paid or 35% of full quote value (whichever greater).

Cancellation 31+ days before date of arrival – visitor forfeits 50% of deposit paid or 25% of full quote value (whichever greater).

On receipt of a written instruction to cancel the reservation Amakaya Backpackers will refund the applicable amount as determined by the cancellation terms above.

Amakaya Backpackers levies a 5.0% administration fee on any refunds processed

In the event of premature departure we may charge for the full original booking.

The above is only applicable to deposits/payments made directly to Amakaya Backpackers. We will not refund any deposits paid to any booking agents.
